POLITICAL CAREER

First elected to represent the 74th House District in November 2002, but he was no newcomer to the Legislature. Prior to term limits, he served eight years in the House then 12 years in the Senate. His most noteworthy accomplishment is landmark victims’ rights legislation enacted in the mid 1980s that has become a national model. Bill is considered the “Father of Crime Victims Rights,” a title he is proud to have earned.
