POLITICAL CAREER
Elected to the Senate in 2002, Clarke was elected to the House in 1990 and 1998. He has been Assistant Minority Caucus Chair from 2003 to present.

WORK EXPERIENCE
Clarke was assistant for Wayne County Executive Ed McNamara, the Chief of Staff to Congressman John Conyers, the Wayne County Purchasing Director, and the Associate Wayne County Executive.

EDUCATION
Clarke received his B.F.A. from Cornell University and law degree from Georgetown University.

PERSONAL
Clarke was born March 2, 1957.

CIVIC ACTIVITIES
Clarke is a member of the Michigan Public Purchasing Officers Association, the Saratoga and Holy Cross Hospitals Board, the St. John's Northeast Community Hospital, and Alpha Phi Alpha.
