POLITICAL CAREER
Elected to the Senate in 2001, Garcia was appointed to the Commission on Spanish Speaking Affiars in 1998. He was an Ovid Village Councilman from 1994 to 1997, an assistant for Sen. Doug Carl, Sen. Mike Rogers, and Sen. Harmon Cropsey. He also served in the House from 1998 to 2001.

WORK EXPERIENCE
Garcia was a lieutenant colonel in the Army National Guard, a Company Commander of an infantry training company in Operation Desert Storm, a U.S. Army Captain from 1981 to 1990, a teacher at Laingsburg Christian School, and Territory Manager for the National Federation of Independent Business.

EDUCATION
Garcia received his B.A. from Cedarville College in 1981.

PERSONAL
Born November 27, 1958, Garcia is married to Karla Garcia and he has two children: Kristy and Brian. He is a member of the First Baptist Church.

CIVIC ACTIVITIES
Garcia is a member of the St. Johns Rotary Club, the St. Johns Area Chamber of Commerce, and the American Legion.
