POLITICAL CAREER
Elected to the Senate in 2002, George worked on a local coalition against assistant suicide. He served a term in the House in 2000.

WORK EXPERIENCE
George was an anesthesiologist for the Kalamazoo Anesthesiology and Hospice of Greater Kalamazoo, a private practice doctor, and a teacher for the Michigan State College of Human Medicine.

EDUCATION
George received his B.A. and M.D. from University of Michigan.

PERSONAL
Born December 2, 1956, George is married to Sandy George and he has three children: Lauren, Maria, and Matthew.

CIVIC ACTIVITIES
George has worked on the Medical Advisory Board of Kalamazoo Association for Prepared Childbirth, the Michigan Commission on End-of-Life Care, and Senior Services of Kalamazoo. He is Vice President of the Historical Society of Michigan. He was an overseas medical advisor, most recently in Tanzania. George completed two documentaries on Kalamazoo history for PBS.
