POLITICAL CAREER
Elected to the Senate in 2001, Scott was also elected to the House in 1994. She was Mayor of Highland Park from 1988 to 1992, President of the Highland Park City Council from 1984 to 1987, a County Commissioner for Wayne County from 1977 to 1979, a vice chair of the Civil Service Commission of Wayne County from 1980 to 1982.

WORK EXPERIENCE
Scott worked for Michigan Bell.

EDUCATION
Scott attended Highland Park Junior College. She received a honorary doctorate of humanities from the Tennessee School of Religion and an honorary doctorate of law from the Urban Bible Institute of Detroit in 1994.

PERSONAL
Scott has two children and two grandchildren. She is a baptist.
