POLITICAL CAREER
Senator Nofs was elected to the Michigan Senate in November of 2009 in a special election to fill the seat vacated by former Senate Minority Leader Mark Schaer. Elected to the House in 2002, Nofs was a member of the Calhoun County Board of Comissioners from 1993 to 2002 and was mayor of Springfield.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Nofs worked for Michigan State Police from 1977 to 2002, for the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department from 1976 to 1977, for Marshall police from 1972 to 1976, and Battle Creek police from 1971 to 1972.
EDUCATION
Nofs graduated from Spring Arbor College.
PERSONAL
Nofs was born November 15, 1953. He has five children: Whitney, Meredith, Michael J., John, and Matt.
CIVIC ACTIVITIES
Nofs is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Calhoun Area Volunteer Network, and the Calhoun County Agricultural and Industrial Society. He has volunteered for Access Vision and March of Dimes.
